Bus
The public bus transportation service is provided by RTA (New Orleans Regional Transit Authority) which offers various bus routes that connect the city with the suburban areas. Due to the fact that RTA lost more than 200 buses, because of Hurricane Katrina, the waiting period has looped to 30 and sometimes, even to 60 minutes.
Rail
New Orleans is served by Amtrak, the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal being the central rail depot. There are 3 trains which serve the city: the Crescent, which travels between New Orleans and New York City, the City of New Orleans, which runs between New Orleans and Chicago and the Sunset Limited, which passes through New Orleans, on its way from Orlando to Los Angeles.
Ferry
Pedestrians can also find their way around the city by ferry, for free, using the Canal Street Ferry, which connects downtown New Orleans with Algiers Point, from 6 am until midnight. The service has been operating since 1927, and it is considered to be one of New Orleans’ most unique features.

I-10 - travels east-west through the city as the Pontchartrain Expressway.
I-610 - provides a direct shortcut for traffic passing through New Orleans via I-10.
I-510 – runs in eastern New Orleans, south from I-10, intersecting with US highway 90, ending at the Almonaster Boulevard interchange.
