Guilford College is an independent, liberal arts college in Greensboro, which is a city in the US state of North Carolina, with a population of more than 260 000 inhabitants, which makes it the state's 3rd largest city and the largest city in Guilford County and the surrounding Piedmont Triad metropolitan region.
The college was founded by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), in 1837, and it is the third-oldest coeducational institution in the country, the oldest such institution in the South, and the fourth-oldest institution of higher learning in the state.
